A President’s Dithering False Bravado
WHY OBAMA “CAVED” IN ACCEPTING PUTIN’S RIGGED SYRIAN WEAPONS DEAL On September 1st, 2020, Author Gary R. Patterson published and released his sixth book; all of which have chronicled the eight-year Presidency of Barack Obama. As with his fifth book, The Multinational Takedown of America (2016), Patterson’s sixth book further explores and critique Barack Obama’s foreign policy legacy. Specifically, what follows is a prelude to Gary R. Patterson’s September 1st, 2020 book publication and release:
Nearing the end of the Obama Presidency, what would have compelled the renowned Attorney Alan M. Dershowitz, esteemed Harvard Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the Harvard Law School as well as a life-long Democrat, supporter and friend of President Barack Obama to have to sadly admit:
“He will go down in history – President Obama – as one of the worst foreign policy Presidents ever. What he did in Syria [by not enforcing his “Red Line” Ultimatum] and he was partly responsible for Aleppo by creating a vacuum for Russia [by Obama’s final decision not to arm the Syrian Opposition rebels there] …But I have to tell you he created a terrible conflict for people like me – Liberal Democrats – who supported his domestic policy but who think he was an appalling, appalling President when it came to foreign policy. He hurt America so badly.”
About Me
A graduate of the University of Michigan - School of Business Administration, as both a CPA and a U.S. Treasury Department Special Agent for 34 years, Gary R. Patterson spent his entire career conducting civil and criminal income tax Fraud investigations, prosecutions and statistical federal income tax data analysis. Patterson’s most notable case involved an employee-leasing and payroll tax processing company (i.e. Simplified Employment Services, Inc.) that was, at the time, the fourth largest such company in America. In what the Detroit Free Press reported as “one of the largest tax frauds in U.S. history,” four corporate executives, including the CEO, COO and Corporate Counsel, were ultimately convicted and sentenced to Federal prison for defrauding the Federal Government of over $51 million in Federal taxes.
Patterson’s career experience has also afforded him the perspective of an experience-based political and economic awareness of the practical limitations and constraints of the Federal Government to actually achieve and implement meaningful, pragmatic solutions. Illustratively, in Jump-Starting Real Job Creation in America, rather than merely defining problems, Patterson proffered, in layman terms, inventive solutions that are both realistic and equitable to all, which were exhaustively sourced and footnote-referenced, serving as justification of his position.
A SYNOPSIS OF GARY R. PATTERSON’S THREE MOST RECENT BOOKS
OBAMA REPEATEDLY VACILLATED
OVER BOMBING SYRIA
A President’s Dithering False Bravado meticulously examines and chronicles –hour-by-hour - exactly who and what happened that could have so abruptly caused President Barack Obama to make the consensus, greatest foreign policy blunder of his eight-year Presidency: To wit, backing down, ultimately for good, from enforcing his “Red Line” Ultimatum against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for launching an Internationally-banned chemical weapons attack against his own people in August 2013, killing over 1,300.
Inexplicably, within just 90 minutes after his unwavering announcement to the world (on September 30th, 2013) that the United States may indeed bomb Syria, President Obama suddenly changed course and was already contemplating calling the whole thing off. What’s more, dithering even further - less than 24 hours later - President Obama stunningly reversed himself a second time the very next day; by contradictorily declaring “Now after careful deliberation [presumably overnight], I have decided that the United States should take military action against Syrian Regime targets…So to all members of Congress of both parties, I ask you to take this vote [granting Congressional authority to act militarily] for our National Security… I’m ready to act in the face of this outrage.” And yet three years later in 2016, Barack Obama incomprehensively contradicts himself once again; insisting that, in truth, no such threat to U.S. National Security, in fact, ever existed in 2013 after all.
Moreover, only six days later (on September 6th, 2013) and despite repeated threats of false bravado to hold Syria militarily responsible, President Obama makes his third 180-degree foreign policy decision reversal in just eight days. Specifically, this time Obama ultimately and surprisingly conceded in an offer to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the United States would call off its military strike against Syria if Bashar al-Assad would just agree – as his only penalty – to surrender his country’s entire banned chemical weapons arsenal to the International Community. A condition to which Assad agreed to do, but ultimately did not comply with and for which Assad and Syria were never punished militarily throughout the remaining three years of the Obama Presidency. And President Obama’s vacillating and false bravado didn’t end there:
AMERICA AT THE PRECIPICE (2014) THE GOP MUST DEMONSTRATIVELY PRIORITIZE MIDDLE CLASS SOLUTIONS
As almost prescient and a prelude, please note that Gary R. Patterson’s book was written and published clearly one year before Donald Trump “walked down the elevator” in June 2015 to announced A) his candidacy to become President of the United States and B) his priority emphasis throughout his presidential campaign and Presidency to champion and promote the best National Security and economic interests of the American People and, in particular, the Middle Class.
America at the Precipice examines precisely why the Republican Party has, for years, been successfully portrayed by Democrats as being “tone deaf” and indifferent to the plight of Middle Class America. Rightly or wrongly - perceived as primarily concerned with safeguarding the financial interests of the Wealthy - the GOP is further regarded by many as failing to 1) elevate and give priority emphasis to the dire economic straits that the Middle Class in America is currently facing and 2) proactively and demonstratively devise specific common sense and apolitical solutions (as presented herein) that are, indeed, justifiably equitable and meant to rectify and justly remediate this disproportionate economic burden that Middle Class Americans have been relegated to endure during the Presidencies of both George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
THE MULTINATIONAL TAKEDOWN OF AMERICA (2016)
In particular, The Multinational Takedown of America meticulously and compellingly highlights a comparative analysis of 1) Barack Obama’s major U.S. foreign policy statements, decisions and actions occurring throughout his Presidency to 2) the specific words, speeches and U.N. position policy statements over the past two decades of both the current and former Secretaries- General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon and Kofi Annan. To wit, this examination convincingly revealed a seven-year concerted effort by President Obama, in his conduct of U.S. foreign policy, to both emulate and implement the dictates and policies that, alternatively, in effect reflected the global governance objectives of the United Nations.
Specifically, today there exists a stark divergence between the competing geo-political philosophies of 1) the United States as the predominant player in world affairs and “an indispensable force for good” (i.e. American Exceptionalism) which President Barack Obama rejects, in favor of 2) Mr. Obama’s demonstrated preference for the United Nations Multinational (co-equal nations) worldview of global governance (i.e. The Obama Doctrine of “Leading from Behind”). In particular, Gary R. Patterson’s investigation revealed that, as President, Barack Obama has conducted U.S. foreign policy by exclusively adopting the dictates and direction of the U.N. worldview of Multinational global governance - however, to the detriment of his sworn oath and first priority as President to optimally advance and protect the best National Security interests of the American People.
AWARD-WINNING BOOK REVIEWS
A President's Dithering False Bravado by Gary R Patterson is an in-depth examination of United States President Barack Obama and his role in the passive response following a chemical attack against Syrian civilians by President Bashar al-Assad. The mass carnage that resulted from a brutal unleashing of sarin gas was meant to be the proverbial red line for the Obama administration in the Syrian civil war that bore a uniquely catastrophic trilogy of power between its government, the rebel forces, and ISIS. Instead of the promised military intervention and forceful international sanctions, Obama backed down multiple times, ultimately accepting an agreement brokered by Russia's Vladimir Putin, wherein al-Assad would face no punishment for war crimes in exchange for a meager dismantling of its weapons—an agreement forged on the backs of innocent lives lost that remains unfulfilled on a bloody Syrian front.
First things first, I need to make clear that I am not a conservative by any stretch of the imagination. This is a wholly neutral review based on the facts as we know them and the literary merit of Gary R Patterson's argument, compiled in A President's Dithering False Bravado. This is a completely apolitical examination wherein Patterson outlines a play-by-play of Obama's (in)action without the party baggage that usually lines these kinds of books. Patterson is direct and objective, inserting opinion with the same disgust and incredulity that any reasonable person would have if this was a fictional account about a fictional president.
Unfortunately, it is not. People were slaughtered, the Obama administration roared this was the absolute end, then recanted and came back with a growl, then recanted again. How anybody can push a body count of over 400k aside is beyond me with or without chemical weapons, but to allow for it to go unpunished while simultaneously emboldening two dictators and crushing national security and American credibility is a crime in itself. I'm grateful for this book and I'm grateful to have been provided a succinct, factual sequence of events. I'm also angry that such a book is necessary and am certain other readers will be too.
A President's Dithering False Bravado: Why Obama "Caved" In Accepting Putin's Rigged Syrian Weapons Deal by Gary R Patterson is a nonfiction book that critically examines Obama’s controversial and wavering stand when it came to the bombing Syria in 2013. In this book, the author makes a powerful case against Obama and demonstrates a huge blunder that made his leadership and competence questionable. The book focuses mostly on the former president’s wavering attitude in dealing with the Red Line Ultimatum against the Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad when he launched an attack against his own people, killing many of them. The President made the announcement that the US was to bomb Syria, but in less than 90 minutes, he reversed the decision, ultimately citing careful deliberation. Why did this happen?
This is a book that examines Obama’s actions when it came to foreign policy in dealing with the Syrian crisis, the inconsistencies in decision-making, and bowin down to Putin when the moment called on him to uphold the pride of the American nation. The big question is: Why have Syria and Assad never been punished militaril in spite of the grave abuses and threatening acts of terrorism and crimes against humanity perpetrated by the regime? The answers are in this book and they ar surprisingly disturbing. Gary R Patterson’s book is a forensic critique of Obama’s leadership and the blunders that undermined the might of the American people. President's Dithering False Bravado is meticulous and the author examines facts that are well-documented and referenced. A book for readers who love politics an contemporary events, but it is also a book that holds a former president accountable for his indecision and cowering in a time of crisis
Former US President Barack Obama drew attention to the world when he issued a Red Line ultimatum against the regime of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad. The world anticipated it with bated breath, but to the disappointment of many, he backed away from it. In A President’s Dithering False Bravado, Gary R. Patterson writes an investigative study on Obama’s failure to follow through on what was designed to punish a despot for using chemical weapons against his own people. This is a comprehensive study that focuses on the six-day period from the 26th to the 31st of August 2013, with a chapter devoted to what transpired between 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. of the 30th, wherein Obama changed his stance—a decision that was met with undeniable objection given that his decision was incompatible with his previous stance against a reigning “thug and murderer.”
The Red Line ultimatum is where Obama’s foreign policy met the most brutal challenge and criticism. Foreign policy experts point out this error as damaging to US credibility. Seven years have passed and a new chief executive is at the helm of the Oval Office. We can now read from press interviews why Obama declined to enforce the Red Line on Syria.
This is where A President’s Dithering False Bravado becomes an even more relevant read for anyone interested in making a comparative analysis on whether or not the withdrawal on enforcing the Red Line was justified, and how Obama’s judgment call affected his obligation to national security. Mr. Patterson’s analysis will also provoke us to think of the consequences of letting Assad go unpunished despite his non-compliance. After reading this study, you will start to look back at Obama’s presidency and ponder, with your own judgment, about his style of governing.
In “Jump-Starting Real Job Creation in America,” Gary R. Patterson presents a clear and comprehensive analysis of the complex issues facing America’s job market…After an in-depth discussion of the issues, difficulties, status, and stance taken by politicians, Democrats and Republicans alike, Patterson demystifies the formidable interrelated economic challenges threatening the country…Once he has defined the problems, Patterson offers common sense, achievable solutions that are financially plausible and actuarially and demographically vindicated.
Patterson’s writing is articulate, well-organized, idealistic, and authoritative…His Interpretation and communication is written simply, is thought-provoking and analytical in his signature style…Gary R. Patterson provides an update for seasoned experts and students of political science and economics and a workable introduction for less experienced readers.
The amount of research that has been put into finding these figures is phenomenal and shouldn’t be underestimated. To present an argument that involves political suggestions that seem legitimately justified and hold potential opportunity for success in dealing with the problem it sets out to solve, is quite a hard task to do but Patterson achieved this. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in modern political and economic ideology or Western Business Studies as well as to all people interested in economics or finance because this is directly related to these subjects.
